Mental Health First Aid

In partnership with Maudsley Learning

First Aid for Life and have partnered with Maudsley Learning to provide enhanced Mental Health First Aid training. This is delivered as blended learning with e-learning as pre-learning and a live, virtual day run by clinicians from the Maudsley Hospital. The focus is on offering transferable skills to de-escalate situations, help manage challenging behaviour as well as providing a clear framework to help someone struggling with their mental health and a wealth of resources too.

Mental Health First Aid brings a fresh approach to enhancing mental wellbeing. You’ll learn practical tips to optimise mental health, build resilience, help with insomnia, and manage stress. The CARES method gives a clear structure to identify potential problems and help yourself or others in need of additional support.

This mental health first aid training course will teach you how to recognise warning signs of mental ill health and help you develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone, whilst keeping yourself safe. We help you develop resilience, learn new ways to cope with stress, advise on sleeping better and equip you with a wealth of resources to be able to confidently help someone struggling with their mental health.

Ideal for individuals needing additional help and guidance to support their mental well-being, for those looking to introduce positive mental health practices to their workplaces, for teachers and support staff and friends, family and colleagues wanting more information on this vital topic.

This course has been developed for family, friends, school staff, college staff, carers, youth workers, children and young people wanting to be more confident supporting others with their mental health.

I've had over 20 years of First Aid courses in various locations and environments. Without exception this was the... best. From the get go we were very well informed and kept up to date with information during the COVID-19 developments and it's subsequent restrictions and limitations. The course was very well attended (including 5 of my own Team) by a diverse crowd with varying experience and requirements. These were all answered and handled exceptionally. Clarity in explanation and understanding was second to none and it's the very first time a course leader has not only explained the biomechanics of certain situations and techniques but also applied relevant, practical and common sense! Cannot recommend them more
